Health programs

The CHAZ health program is managing the TB,Malaria, Nutrition, HIV and AIDS. The program has been running since 1986 with support from different donors. The major one being the Global Fund for HIV,TB and Malaria.

 

The program was officially launched on 20th December 2007 in response to the HIV AIDS pandemic. It combines the support of Dan Church AID(DCA) , Irish Aid, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN). In 2010 the JFA programme was joined CordAID to bring the number to five including CHAZ. These partners had a mutual agreement to harmonise funding and reporting mechanisms in order

The overall purpose of the PBF project is to safeguard health sector performance and contribute to the achievement of a better health status of the Zambian population.

The Malaria Control Program was officially introduced in the Church Health Institutions (CHIs) with support from the Global Fund in 2003. The program works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s National Malaria Control Centre (NMCC). The program supports CHAZ member CHIs in the provision of technical, logistical and financial support.

The CHAZ AIDS Care and Prevention Programme was developed in 1986 as a response to the growing problem of HIV and AIDS in the country. CHAZ AIDS Care and Prevention Programme is the largest single programme in CHAZ and incorporate STI and TB control, prevention programme that promotes the ABC approach.

The overall objective of the TB control program is to reduce mortality, morbidity and social economic burden associated with TB in the Zambian population. During the proposal development, the TB control program adopted the five elements of the Stop TB strategy as its objectives. These

objectives, as they appear in the Stop TB Strategy are:-
