CHAZ Distributes Hand Washing Stations to AGAPE Schools

CHAZ Distributed 46 Hand washing stations to 23 Adolescent Girls Accessing Prevention and Education (AGAPE) implementing schools in three provinces namely, Luapula, Northern and Muchinga Provinces.

This was done to ensure that all 23 AGAPE Implementing schools in the three provinces meet the Covid-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Health as they prepare to reopen schools.

The AGAPE project has been designed in response to the fact that very few underprivileged rural adolescent girls enroll in school and complete their secondary education. This fact has been correlated with the high prevalence of teen marriages and pregnancies and STI/HIV infections.

The health of adolescent girls and boys is at the heart of CHAZ. Meeting their sexual and reproductive health needs is vital to development, and has been top priority for CHAZ. To facilitate the process of improving the lives of adolescent girls and keep them free from HIV infection and unwanted pregnancies/abortions, CHAZ has decided to focus on ensuring their education through payment of school fees and upkeep allowance.

It is for this reason that CHAZ ensures that the AGAPE implementing schools are conducive for the learners even in the COVID-19 times.
