CHAZ runs a number of programmes and provides other services to strengthen member institutions in the provision of health services, namely Malaria, TB, and Leprosy Control, AIDS Care, Prevention and Treatment.

Due to its extensive infrastructure and local experience, the Zambia Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) for the Global Fund in March 2003 chose CHAZ as one of the four Principal Recipients. CHAZ is mandated to disburse funds to Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria grants from the Global Fund.

CHAZ with the support of a number of cooperating partners that include the Global Fund, DanChurchAid, The Royal Netherlands Embassy, Irish Aid, Catholic Relief Services/PEPFAR, and Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
