This report covers the period from January to December 2008. In this period, CHAZ planned to implement 161 activities. Currently CHAZ has 133 members affiliated (CHIs) from different denominations. These institutions represent 50% of the formal services in the rural areas and 30% in the entire country. CHAZ is guided by two strategic directions as follows:
- Improving health service delivery by
- CHAZ members
- Improving CHAZ overall organizational
- effectiveness.
In terms of Governance, the following is in place:
The Annual General Council, the constituent member forum, the Board and the Secretariat. CHAZ, as a Technical wing of the Church in Health has the following roles and responsibilities:
- Execute Board decisions
- CHI representation and advocacy
- Resource mobilization
- Technical support/capacity building.
Membership:
The membership of CHAZ has increased over the years and currently stands at 133 comprising both Catholics and Protestants. Out of which 31 are hospitals 9 of which have training schools, 75 Rural Health centers and 27 Community Based Programs including the 10 Catholic Dioceses. These are spread in all the 9 Provinces and in 54 districts. A warm welcome to Isofu and Samfya RHCs who were admitted to membership in theperiod January to December 2008.
