Objective

To contribute towards the national vision of a “Malaria free future”.

Specific objectives

• Increase the prompt and effective treatment of malaria cases in children under5 to exceed 80%
• Increase ITN Household (HH) ownership and use to exceed 80% in the national population by 2008 and maintain ITN coverage until 2011
• Strengthen monitoring and evaluation system and its link to planning for malaria control

Achievements of the Malaria Programme

-672,607 ITN'S distributed.
-37 site (health facilities)have been strength with equipment to diagnose malaria
-677 health workers have been trainned in malaria diagnosis and treatment.
-1,948 Community health workers have been trainned -IMCI to provide home management of malaria
